  • 22SS ASPP 222 - 1 Applied Performance Project II

The Applied Performance Project is a program-long sequence of courses that students take each semester in order to produce a final project. Elements may include developing elevator speeches and definitions of sport and performance psychology, a portfolio of academic and applied work, philosophy of practice, professional website, resumé, creating social media and LinkedIn profiles, templates of professional practice documents and a completed CMPC (Certified Mental Performance Consultant) application form. The project will be presented to a panel of experts who will also conduct a mock job interview. The guiding philosophy for this course is that more than just knowledge is required to be an effective applied practitioner in the field of sport and performance psychology. To be in an applied program implies an intent to utilize the learnings in some meaningful way. To do this requires not only a command for the theory and research but also an understanding of how you, the practitioner, connect with and communicate the material. This course is designed to assist with the latter, through self-reflection, exploration, and debating with others to deepen self- awareness. This self-awareness will serve as the foundation for the various elements of the Applied Performance Project.
